CRUCIAL BONES FOR YOUR BODY

Everyone has a skeleton made of hundreds of bones. These bones produce the structure of the body, making one move easily and protect the organs. What bones are important for the body?

The body has about 300 bones when it is newly born, but over time and growth, the bones formed when mature are only about 206 bones. When baby bones are made of cartilage (cartiage) which is soft and flexible, these bones will grow and will gradually be replaced by hard bones with the help of calcium.

At the age of 20 years, this process is complete and there is no growth. The bones are large with a very strong and light skeleton.

As quoted from Kidshealth, Monday (6/28/2010) there are four bones that have an important role for the body, namely:

Skull
This flat bone is very important for the body because it functions to cover and protect the brain and the shape of the face, which is made of several different bones.

All babies are born with a distance (space) between bones, this allows the bones to move. As growth grows, the space between the bones will close and there are special joints that connect the bones.

This skull bone consists of eight bones, the front bone, two temporal bones, two parietal bones, an occipital bone, an ethmoid bone and a sphenoid bone. In addition, the smallest bone in the body is also found on the head, which is the stirrup bone which is behind the eardrum and has a size of 2.5-3.3 mm.

Spine
This bone can rotate, bend and make the body stand up. The most important function of this bone is to protect the spinal cord and a large group of nerves that function to send information from the brain throughout the body.

This spine consists of 26 bones and each is shaped like a ring called vertebrate bone. Besides that it also consists of the sacrum and tailbone.

Ribs / ribs
This bone has an important function because it is responsible for protecting organs such as the heart, lungs and liver. Shaped like a bone cage around the chest and very easily felt if someone held it on the front of the body.

These ribs are paired on the left and right sides with each pair exactly the same. Most people have 12 pairs of ribs, but some people are born with more ribs or less than one pair.

Leg bones
Some of the main bones form a person’s legs. Each arm has one humerus which is a large bone at the top of the arm, and two long bones in the arm which are ulna and radius.

In addition there are also carpal bones in the wrist, long bones in the thigh called the femur, two longitudinal bones (tibia and fibula) from the knee to the ankles, ankle bones (tarsals), bones of the hands and feet (metacarpals and metatarsals) and phalanges which is the bone of the toes and hands.
