SIX TYPES OF PILLOWS FOR COMFORTABLE ON SLEEP
Comfort is the main factor to produce a good night’s sleep. Like the bed and light arrangement of the room, the pillow used is also one of the important factors to produce quality sleep.
Currently there are various types of pillows. Each filling material has different characters and effects. The following are some types of pillows on the market, as below:
Kapok
Kapok is a material that is quite common in the ears of Indonesians. Kapuk and cotton are the earliest materials used. The texture is soft and white. Kapok also feels slippery when held. This type of material is strong enough to withstand the load and its thickness can be adjusted. It’s just that, kapok is easily damp and over time it will solidify. Other kapok are also easily dusty and become a nest of mites or lice which can cause skin and respiratory disorders.
Foam
If kapok comes from kapok tree, foam comes from synthetic materials. Like a sponge, foam has a flexible texture and easily follows the shape of the head. If you lift your head, the shape will return to normal. Unlike kapok, foam is more hygienic even though it tends to feel hot when used.
Memory Foam
One type of foam that is quite popular is memory foam. Made from a type of foam called polyurethane, this material takes time to get back to its original shape after receiving pressure. One reason this pillow is quite comfortable to use is because this type can absorb sweat.
Goose feather
In the past, people in Europe were more accustomed to using goose feathers for pillows. Goose feathers are known to be very smooth, especially the neck (down). The higher the content down in a pillow, the more expensive the price. However, these pillows also have quite a nagging disadvantage. Because it comes from organic ingredients, goose feathers produce dust so it is not suitable for people with dust or fur allergies. If you want to use it, it would be better to cover it with a thick fabric as a pillowcase.
Dakron
Dakron is one of the ingredients intended to replace cotton and cotton. Derived from plastic fibers, this type of pillow does not absorb dust and is not easily infested with fleas. In addition to pillows, dacron is also used for other products, such as stuffed dolls, bolsters, furniture, and bed covers. Currently on the market there are at least three types of dacrons, namely siliconized polyester fiber, silicon, and regular dacron.
The first type is the most expensive type among the three and is the best. Siliconized polyester fiber has fibers with high growth power and fine texture. While the second type is divided into two classes, namely first class and second class. The first class has fine and white fibers, while the second class or grade B has a rather blackish color. Among them, the third type of dacron is the type with the lowest price. The raw material is recycled with a rather rough fiber.
Latex
This material comes from rubber latex which generally has holes to regulate the elasticity of the pillow. Divided into two types, namely natural latex and synthesis. Natural latex 80% of the content comes from rubber latex, while 80% latex synthesis is a synthesis material. Natural latex is suitable for people with allergic problems, because this ingredient is free of fleas. One other advantage, is that the material feels cool and cool while being in a hot place, because the rubber has an isulator that is not easy to deliver heat.
